Biography:

Dr. Arshad, originally from Pakistan, holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (2010-2015) from the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore. He furthered his education by obtaining a master’s degree (2015-2017) in Animal Reproduction from the same institution. Dr. Arshad pursued his passion for research by completing his PhD (2018-2023) at the University of Florida, specializing in Animal Molecular and Cell Biology Program under the guidance of Dr. Jose Santos. During his PhD program, Dr. Arshad conducted applied research in Animal Nutrition and conducted a series of experiments to determine the requirements of choline in dairy cows. Dr. Arshad’s PhD research contribution had direct applications to the problems of the dairy industry and those efforts were recognized at the forum of American Dairy Science Association. Dr. Arshad completed one year of a post-doctoral fellowship at the Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences, University of Wisconsin-Madison, under the guidance of Dr. Heather White. During his post-doctoral fellowship at UW-Madison, Dr. Arshad characterized an in-vitro model to determine the metabolic function of immune cells. Additionally, Dr. Arshad also investigated the relationship between feed efficiency and immune function in dairy cows.

Driven by a deep-seated commitment to advancing knowledge in the field, Dr. Arshad aspires to establish a robust research program centered on dairy cow nutrition, health, and reproduction. His dedication to big data analysis serves as a cornerstone in his mission to provide valuable insights benefiting the dairy industry. Dr. Arshad's goal is to empower dairy farmers with evidence-based information, facilitating informed decision-making processes that enhance the productivity and welfare of dairy cattle. With his diverse educational background and unwavering passion for research, Dr. Arshad continues to make significant strides in the field of veterinary science and dairy agriculture.
